Wow, That was not a good night for America

First off, I'm pumped about France.  We'll see if anything actually changes over there--I have my doubts.

Second, I finished my conference and I wasn't too pleased with the whole experience--not sure these are the people I want to spend the rest of my life interacting with.

Third, I'm almost done with a massive paper.

Fourth, American Idol was just so disappointing tonight.  I actually think Melinda did great on both songs, and preferred her first one.  LaKisha just wasn't strong tonight--I think she goes home tomorrow.  Jordin did really well on the first one but not so hot on the second.  Blake?  He is my favorite, especially after his Bon Jovi night.  The BeeGees were his thang, though, dog.  I should have knocked it out of the part.  Instead he chose terrible songs and did them poorly.  I wouldn't be that surprised if he goes tomorrow, but since I think he probably has a stronger fan base than LaKisha, he might be safe.  But MAN was he disappointing.

I've given up watching American Idol. Instead I've decided to totally focus on LOST and also a bit more on life outside TV. But I'm rooting for Blake now too.

Blakes the only guy left. He should be able to pull enough votes to squeak through. So I think you're right, Lakisha goes bye bye.

This time last season there was a lot of excitement on Idol. Remember the enthusiasm of the Soul Patrol? Taylor Hicks and Kathryn McPhee really had that contest revved up. This year I feel as though the whole thing is just running out of steam. Instead of getting better and better, everyone just seems tired and worn out.

I think it is because there is no one to hate this season since they got rid of Sanjaya. He certainly had people revved up. I agree with your assessment that people are tired, but I think that is because the people left are just really good. I think Blake last week did a super job and certainly revved me up for him more than I was before. Melinda is just so good that she never improves (and this is what the judges basically told her last night is her big problem). Jordin is cute and young and good. You don't really have the poplar opposites like you had last time--even though you do this time with Melina/Jordin/LaKisha and Blake. But Blake isn't as creepy as Hicks was, and since I don't hate Blake I can't say whether people truly hate him as I hate Hicks.

This week was a bad week, and it should have been great. We will see what next week brings. But the final I foresee--Jordin and Melinda, will not be an exciting one. The other problem is, is that everyone really likes each other this year and is genuinely nice. I mean, the love fest between Chris and Blake last week was so gag-worthy.

I just wish Blake didn't have those tattoos.

Why aren't you working on your papers instead of wasting time on American Idol? You need to get to work so you have open time on Saturday!

You've got POPS so upset that he's stuttering again. I suggest you get your nose away from the tube and back to the grindstone. We'll handle the Idol nonsense. Oh, what's that I hear in the other room? Did someone say Blake was voted off???

Just kidding. Now get back to work.

BTW, POPS, guess what disreputable creature was golfing at Oakland two weeks ago. Bill Clinton. He hit the links to pass the time between his commencement address at U of M and some NAACP luncheon that was in Detroit. (He probably also had a date with one of the Oakland Hills' waitresses but I didn't get to hear about that.)

I was right. I think we can say that Jordin will be the next American Idol. Melinda is the best singer, Blake the most interesting and perhaps most "unique" or as Paula keeps saying "contemporary" but Jordin is young and happy and Melinda is just very very good without being interesting and Blake will choke and he is too "contemporary" to get a large enough fan base to win.

That's about it. Now get back to work on your papers.

That little Blake twit is too much like Morrissey to win anything but a Smiths act-alike contest. We loathe him as much as Misspent loathes us.

King, we've been wondering where you've been. Card told me you were probably just preoccupied eatin' barbecue.

How are things going with Kathryn McPhee? Are you two engaged yet?

Who? Are you perhaps referring to one of the also-rans?

Mrs C probably brought that "also rans" name up because she wanted to tweak Misspent. As you may know, he was dating her for a while until his name got mixed up in that rather ugly Anna Nicole paternity mess. And then, well, bye bye Kathryn. But it's OK, I guess he has another girlfriend now. We can only hope she doesn't find out about Anna Nicole -- not to mention Paris 'Jail' Hilton.
