<andyrooneyvoice>Did'ya ever wonder why sometimes things that happen to you in the morning just start your day off wrong?</andyrooneyvoice>
Yesterday, I had to take the bus and the Metro into the District with a neighbor that I don't particularly like at the moment and he insisted on talking to me the whole time. Then, when I was walking to my office a woman was standing on the sidewalk at the curb and just fell over like a tree. Straight down like a tree. I ran across the street to help her up and to gather her things. She was OK and was shaking it off admirably, but I was a little offput. It just didn't start my day off right. Everything was just off. I did get a paper in on time, although just barely under the wire, and then went out with some people afterwards to TGI Fridays. While there I ran into a gaggle of department people out with a class. Again, the day was just not going well. Then on the way home I had an awkward time on the Metro since it was a four car train and was super packed all the way through and every stop was a major hassle as everyone on the inside of the seats had to get up, making everyone in the outer seat stand and then the people crammed inbetween the rows of seats had to shimmy around while people were trying to file in and file out.
So this morning I was hoping for something a little better. When I got out of my apartment building I noticed that I couldn't see much.
The bus ride was OK, but then when I got to the Metro I saw that the next Blue Line train was a 4 car train, as was the one behind it. It was rush hour. The train was very packed. Again, I ask you, why do they run 4 car trains at rush hour ONLY on the Blue line? Why not the Yellow? That goes hardly anywhere and is always less crowded no matter when I see it. Anyway.
So then I get off the Metro and I run into this.
I did see Fox News' Major Garrett, which was a trip. Thankfully, the day got better after that and I even got a free lunch (although not a very good one).
Let's hope tomorrow morning is better because the rest of the day is NOT going to be good.
What was going on there outside the hospital?

OK, the Internets told me. They were trying to wrest control of the Senate.

Everybody step back. Don't panic. I'm ready to serve as the next senator from South Dakota should the need arise. Just chill out. I'm in charge here.

Khaki, tell Major I'm ready for my interview with Fox News.

Do I really need to remind you, Misspent, that there's no such thing as a free lunch. Obviously, someone wants a favor. Who bought you that "free" lunch? A student? Major Garrett? Al Haig? Khaki? That woman who likes to fall over?

Fox was still there this afternoon, sitting tucked way from the crowd. Cameraman, producer, reporter, all of them.
