Someone famous and intelligent once said that you could tell a lot about a people by what they found funny. So what does it say about me and my colleagues that we find this uproariously funny?

I find it uproariously funny too.

At least I am in good company then!

Sorry we can't be in Washington for your big party in honor of the Dear Leader's birthday, but we're having a little celebration of our own here in Detroit.

Misspent, we need to chat. When dating there is no such thing as "too soon for that" unless we are talking about you-know-what and by all means you are right on the money on that. Now, none of my advice is advice that will break the rules of the Catholic Church so you as as Lutheran should be fine (OK Pops?) Mispent, seal the deal early on. Do the right thing. If she is sweet tempered and understands the temperment of Finns realise that it's not going to get any better for you. Buy her flowers. Lots of them. Buy her vodka, or do you call it white reindeer's milk? See what she's like after a siff one--vodka that is. This is important reconaisance. Once you determine whether or not she's the right stuff, deal with it. As my grandmother would instruct, fish or cut bait. Don't waste anyone's time. If she is the right stuff, take her to morning services and get married, have lunch at a fabulous restaurant and the rest -- we'll leave to you. Oh, and I'll get the Card's to pony up for a great gift.

I think Misspent is Swedish.
Posted by: Card's wife | 17 February 2007 at 11:00
Swedes drink vodka don't they?
Posted by: Mrs. Peperium | 17 February 2007 at 11:06
and Aquavit!
Posted by: POPS | 17 February 2007 at 11:35
POPS! I understand you can make a Bloody Mary with Aquavit. This might be just the way to initiate her into the family. By the way, the Cards will be at the Darke on Sunday until Tuesday. Why don't you meet them there for some Aquavit? Email me for the exact details and the Cards credit card number....

Where's the Darke?
Posted by: Card's wife | 17 February 2007 at 21:56
I think it might be someplace between the bourbon and the wine.
Posted by: Card's wife | 17 February 2007 at 21:57
That' where Frank Sinatra stayed when he was in Chicago. I think he is still there.
Posted by: POPS | 17 February 2007 at 23:41
Is Elvis there?
Posted by: Card's wife | 18 February 2007 at 00:05
Elvis is wherever you want him to be.
Posted by: POPS | 18 February 2007 at 05:17
If Elvis is at the Darke, then I'd ask for a refund. First, if he's alive the best food will be directed to his room, not yours. If's he's dead, the place will have very stale air.
Posted by: Mrs. Peperium | 18 February 2007 at 07:29
The Drake has had stale air for at least the last 60 years. It is included in the price for the room.
Posted by: POPS | 18 February 2007 at 10:55
The Drake has the Cape Cod Room and you know what that means...oysters!
Posted by: Card's wife | 18 February 2007 at 21:25
POPS! Oysters and the Card's wife at the Darke!
Posted by: Mrs. Peperium | 18 February 2007 at 21:27
And the Card...
Posted by: Card's wife | 18 February 2007 at 21:29
Yeah right. He'll be up in the room.
Posted by: Mrs. Peperium | 18 February 2007 at 21:29
Why would I be up in the room? I will be with the charming Mrs C. There's nothing I like better than a stroll through the Palm Court with Mrs C on my arm.
As for oysters... I'd prefer having them in the Coq d'Or. They come right out of the Cape Cod Room kitchen, but the Coq d'Or is cozier. And I can get machego cheese. Perfect!

Card, if cosy is what you are after, then room service would be the order of the day, wouldn't it? The oysters will still originate from the same source.
