My 18-year-old sister heard Kraftwerk open for some other band (whom? one has to wonder--I should ask her) during their first American tour in 1975. She came back insisting that they sang "frahn frahn frahn...autobahn" over and over again. Her German was weak, but she got the point.
This is what you missed experiencing first-hand by being born so late.

Oh these are terrible memories: I used to have both "Man Machine" and "Autobahn" on vinyl LP.
